A recent graduate
filled with ambition and enthusiasm, Sahriah Ranit has lived on Sharedspace
911 for two years to study the pattern of mobile forest migration.
Sahriah Ranit was brought
up by her father, Nektav, a reasonably prosperous miner. Nektav quit
his job when a preventable cave-in killed Sahriah’s mother.
He almost lost his own life but for a Negaleg that found his unconscious
form and carried him to safety. From that day forward Nektav taught
Sahriah to trust Humanity’s old enemies, the Negalegs.
In place of mining, the
three year old Sahriah and her father have traveled the Milky Way,
selling geological curiosities to various peoples (their biggest customer
by far were the rock obsessed Rock People). When she came of age,
Sahriah studied at the Veloth Academy in a mixture of Naturalistic
Sciences, Negaleg studies and Sociology.
Soon after she graduated
her father remarried. Feeling that he no longer needed her companionship,
Sahriah decided to apply for a colony posting, on the condition that
she would be working closely with Negalegs. Sharedspace 911 fitted
the description perfectly, and Sahriah Ranit soon became a productive
and much loved member of the community.
Despite the relative isolation
of colony life, Sahriah is always careful to follow off-world fashions,
feeling that it connects her to the rest of Humanity in an abstract
way. Her hair is currently died a fashionable purple/pink, cropped
short and sporting the trendy spikes of hair teased outward from the
temples. She is of average height and narrow build, but wears thickly
soled boots that make her appear taller.
Always full of energy,
she works in an eclectic and often sporadic manner, always puzzling
away at forest migration data. Sahriah is seen as a big sister figure
for the children of the colony, and a fresh young face for the older
scientists to further educate. Her manner could at times be considered
childish. She is fascinated by Negaleg language and culture and is
best friends with one of the Negaleg doctors, who quietly tutors her
on Negaleg biology in her spare time.
