Much study on the nature of planer and temporal existence was provoked by the discovery and later domestication of the Heydra. Basic principals were re-examined, the most fundamental of which are listed below. Please note that these are the most recent findings and may be subject to change as further studies reach their completion.

There are currently five accepted and proven scientifically dimensions.
1) One dimensional plain – specks of existence. No life form is known to exist merely in the first dimension, and it is only known to exist due to theoretical calculations.
2) Two dimensional plain – where objects are allowed length and breadth, but no depth. It is currently in debate as to whether this dimension indeed harbors life: several sentient computer programmes have claimed that they legitimately inhabit the fourth and second dimensions, however very few theorists agree with their claims. This is probably because very few theorists can communicate in binary.
3) Three dimensional plain – where objects have length, breadth and depth.
4) Time – only recently accepted as a dimension in its own right, the only species known to exist substantially in time are the Heydra. Time may be free or linear, depending on your temporal perception.
5) Subtemporal plain – A dimension that technically consists of nothing, time nor space exists on the subtemporal plain. Though it is a mathematical absurdity, the Heydra are adamant that this is where their young develop. Heydranix have yet to confirm this.

Sentient Creatures can only exist simultaneously in four dimensions
In every instance of encountered life, there has been no sentient being found that can exist in more than three dimensions. It is possible to exist in less (the frozen galbla bugs of Setti were mysteriously absent from the fourth dimension, living statically in three dimensions. The Humans soon turned these dimensional curiosities into fetching coffee tables, which can be found throughout Human inhabited space)

Humans and most other known life forms simultaneously inhabit the first three dimensions, moving through the fourth dimension in a linear path. Heydra exist mainly in the second, third and fourth. It is thought that they inhabit the fifth during infancy, but this is unproven.

Extranious Dimensions Theoretically Exist
At the current level of Planaritist science, understanding of these theoretical dimensions is limited to the most recent statement released by the Planarist Institute Of Neom:
“Stuff might exist in these places, but it might be anti-stuff for all we know. There may be anti-coffee, or normal coffee that is like ours only in a different dimension. But they do exist, oh yes, just like this mug of coffee”
