Deepavali Festival
|
| 31 September to 6 November |
Considered one of the most important days of the Hindu calendar, the "Festival of Lights" celebrates the triumph of Lord Krishna over the evil Narakasura and hence the triumph of good over evil.
During this festival, Little India explodes with vibrant colours, lights, night bazaars and cultural performances, especially at the stretch of Serangoon Road along Campbell Lane. In a special touch to the celebrations, Campbell Lane is transformed into a busy festival village, featuring stalls that offer a variety of garments, costume jewellery and accessories.
Stroll down the streets and soak up the flavour of Deepavali with stalls displaying oil lamps, colourful costumes and Indian sweets. Temples during this period are adorned with spectacular displays of fairy lights, garlands of jasmine and colourful arches. And before you leave, don't forget to catch a glimpse of the Little India Utsav, a one-night showcase of lively Indian dances, music and art along Race Course Road.
