In addition, the festive street bazaars and carnival in Chinatown (15 Jan - 8 Feb) is the perfect place for you to get your festive goodies or simply soak in the atmosphere!
On 19 February, the whole stretch of Orchard Road will be transformed into a mardi gras type atmosphere with colourful floats, local and international performers entertaining the audience on both sides of the road.
Called Chingay - Parade of DreamS, this is one of Singapore's most vibrant events at this time of the year.
For family fun and games, head over to Singapore River Hongbao and do not miss the fireworks display on the eve of Chinese New Year.

Red is the colour of the season as wide bands of red cloths are hung on every doorway to usher in luck for the family.
when visiting friends and relatives, a pair of mandarin oranges is presented as they represent gold nuggets while the kids are presented with red packets containing money. |
