 Mid-Autumn Festival

Dates to be confirmed

On every 15th day of the 8th lunar month, families get together to feast and rejoice under the full moon to celebrate this ancient Chinese festival. It is a fun night out for everyone as children prance about in parks with their colourful lanterns. Be captivated by the folklore that tells of how the Chinese had ingenuously sent secret messages hidden in mooncakes to overthrow the tyrannical Yuan dynasty in the 14th century.

The month-long festivities in Singapore will feature a wide range of events usually spread across three key venues. Over at the Chinese Garden, huge themed lanterns dot the gardenscape, while Chinatown, a traditional festival venue, dazzles you with its street light-up which boasts a spectacular display of giant lanterns and bright colourful lights.

Learn more about the various legends surrounding this festive occasion as you savour the mooncakes accompanied by Chinese tea, pomelos and enjoy the vibrant bazaars in Chinatown.
