The Show segment of NDP 2005 promises to be a pageantry of colours and sound, telling the story of our nation's development from a small fishing village till where we are now, and expressing our hope and aspirations for the future. Separated into three acts, and culminating in a grand finale, this segment aims to capture the hearts of Singaporeans by evoking a sense of pride and patriotism in spectators.
Act 1 - The Beginning
Act 1 will depict the beginning of Singapore. Starting with Sang Nila Utama's sighting of the Lion. hence the naming of "Singapura". Subsequently the Act will end with the founding of Singapore by Sir Stamford Raffles.
Act 2 - 40 Years of Nation Building
Act 2 serves to be visually stunning and aims to capture the imagination and senses of the audience. Incorporating elaborate dance movements, formations and sound from the mass display, Act 2 will feature 10 floats which depict the progrss of our nation as well as showcasing our very best and brightest talents in their respective professions.
Act 3 - Soaring to Greater Heights
Act 3 comes alive through an exuberant mass dance by night latern and aerial acrobatics, "Soaring to Greater Heights" potrays our hope and aspiration for Singapore's future. It highlights our collective desire to build Singapore to become "A Vibrant City of the World", "A Land of Opportunity and Promises" and "An Open and Inclusive Society"....
Grand Finale - The Future Is Ours To Make
The Grand Finale will be the culmination of all three acts and will bring together all the performers back to the Padang. The "Wishes From The Heartlands" banners will be brought on field to represent the commitment from all Singaporeans to shape Singapore's future with their hands...
