GENERAL INFORMATION
The Ati-Atihan Town of Kalibo is the capital town of the Province of Aklan practically located at the center of all coastal municipalities of the province in the western portion of a 100 sq. kms. Diamond-shaped line from a point between the poblacions of Malinao and Banga. Composed of sixteen (16) barangays, it has a total land area of 4,547 hectares. Kalibo is classified as an urban center by the National Census and Statictics Office having a day time population of about 60,000. This Ati-Atihan Town is also the center of economic, educational, social, political, tourism and religious activities and is inextricably linked to the region and the country as a whole being situated in the western portion of Panay Island approximately 160 road km. from Iloilo City, 90 road km. from Roxas City (Capiz), 175 road km. from San Jose (Antique), and 216 air km. from Manila, the national capital of the Philippines.
Getting Here
Kalibo is 45 minutes from Manila and 30 minutes from Cebu by air. Philippine Airlines has 3 daily flights from Manila on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from Cebu, with special flights to accommodate the overflow of guests. While Air Philippines service aircraft can now fly you twice daily from Manila. Alternative flights by Pacific Air, Sea Air, Air Ads and Asian Spirit through Caticlan in the town of Malay are also available. Kalibo is about 15 hours from Manila and is about 18 hours from Cebu by sea, or fly or sail to Iloilo or Roxas City for bonus sites while going overland to Kalibo.
Getting Around
Tricycles, Jeepneys, and Buses ply routes from Kalibo to other places of interest in different barangays and municipalities of the province.
Dialect/Language
Kalibonhons are multi-lingual people. English, Filipino, Ilonggo and Kinaray-a are spoken with the tongue twisting Aklanon as the primary dialect.
Currency/Credit Cards
The unit of currency is the Philippine Peso divided into 100 centavos, while selected credit cards are accepted by most banks and commercial establishments.

Kalibo is the commercial and trade center of province of Aklan with 18 banks providing foreign exchange outlets. Banking hours: Monday to Friday 9:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M. Most banks have ATM's to serve your needs 24 hours a day.

A daily national and regional newspapers are published in English. Magazines and other weekly and monthly publications circulates in the area. Four (4) AM radio stations, three (3) FM stations and two (2) cable television station serves the locals while national and regional broadcasts can be received as well.

Clothing
Light and casual clothes are recommended. Formal attire is required on special occasions or the native Barong Tagalog and Filipiniana dress can be worn.
